Bleeding Brakes

I was curious. I've seen videos of just what I did. Brake fluid is generally clear or slightly yellow. Mine was brown. Always have a full reservoir with fresh brake fluid your vehicle takes. You do one brake caliper at a time and crack open and pump the brake pedal until all the air has left. Always making sure the brake reservoir is full. You do not want to introduce air into any brake system....

Cleaning and Inspecting Brakes
Просмотров 156Месяц назад
This goes back to preventive maintenance. You have a brake pedal you press, that sends fluid to a brake piston. The piston compresses a caliper which in turns squeezes brake pads onto a rotor which in turn slows then stops a vehicle. There is some more involved, plus there is ABS brakes. So each caliper on a modern normal car have caliper pistons. They have a job of going in and out. Well, that...

My rims were getting stuck here and there. So with a wire wheel and a drill I removed the rust. I applied some silicone to the wheel hub and some contact point.

Thank you.
That's an old school Craftsman ratchet. Of course, made in USA. Well people on the Interwebz SWEAR that made in USA is better and stronger than anything. And compared to the China stuff, yes, it probably is. Or was. But then if that's the case, why would it possibly break? Turns out, made in USA didn't mean that much back then, and definitely doesn't mean much today either. Quality of everything as a whole has gone down. We now live in a disposable society. Since that's what they want, that's what they get. But I will hear no more about how we have to recycle this and can't throw that out and the landfills are full. You can't have it both ways. As a much younger xjoe81x would once say, "Because I'm tired of this crap!"
@@jaykay18 I'm so tired now, even more than ever.
I worked for Sears for a short time back in the early 90s in the hardware dept. We would have people coming in all day with broken tools to get replaced. When it came to ratchets we would usually rebuild them. Generally it was the ratchet mechanism that broke but the handle was still fine so we had kits that allowed us to just swap out the guts. Every once and a while we'd get some asshole (male Karen) that wasn't satisfied with having their ratchet rebuilt and insisted we replace the whole thing. Doing that was above my pay grade so we had to get a manager involved to give permission to replace the whole thing. Craftsman hand tools are made by Stanley/Black & Decker and have been forever. They used to proudly advertise that they were made in USA but now they are all China Pride. They ended up buying the Craftsman name for hand tools from Sears since they made them.
@@tallboyyyy good to know, I never had to replace a tool b4 other than when harbor freight was invented. All my dads tools haven't broke and are still used today. Such a sad state the quality of crap these days.
Hey, I am currently having the same issue and was just wondering how you got the actual glove box off...I have it like 98% the way off but I cannot for the life of me get the button in the glove box that pops the trunk open off..I was just wondering if you could possibly describe how that button detaches, it is driving me insane. Thanks ahead of time for any help you could give.
It has clips, or a clip.
@@xjoe81x Does the entire button come off or does it unplug...I have been messing with it for days now trying to get it to unplug..I have never had such an issue getting something unplugged, it is crazy and I don't want to just rip it out in frustration.
@@Diplomat1786 It should probably just unplug.

I buy Johnsen's by the case from Amazon. Usually 48 cans will last in the shop all year. All of them are different, some have horrible residual fumes that gives you horrible headaches like the AC Delco brand. 3m black can is probably the best but super expensive. Some have acetone, some don't. Some chlorine, some not. They aren't all the same, but the Johnsens is the best/buck IMO. I actually bought and tried every brand I could find a few years back. Probably 2 dozen brands.
O wow, I c.
About a year ago, I was able to order the 45% brake cleaner to California from Amazon, it was a mistake on their part. It worked so much better, I wish I would have ordered like 3 boxes!
O yeah, nice.
Non-Chlorinated is much safer for frequent use. The chlorine reacts with ammonia and turpentine plus a few other common garage/backyard chemicals and can create pockets of noxious gas. A person should wear breathing protection for organic vapors using either but the chlorinated is, and can potentialy be much worse on your lungs if you don't.
Interesting.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We all know they’re going for $10.00 for 10oz. Nice round numbers, pretty little cans and 1000 psi.💥😭👍
Ahh, yes.
Thought you'd have some wisdom to share but nah, look at all dat brake cleanerrrr. Lmao, great vid
Yep, spray and pray.
The ending was perfect. Well now you got that cold, dense, winter brake fluid out, swapped out for that lighter, warm-weather friendly brake fluid. Remember that it doesn't matter how fast the car goes, it matters how fast it stops.
Well, in the winter, we'll mix 2 bottles together for the dense thick version...that makes it DOT 6, right?
@@xjoe81x Yes, more stopping=more better.
@jaykay18 Yes, more better... envious money.
Annoying ASF
Denco is Denco Distributing, they sell this brake cleaner, as well as other chemicals made by other companies, along with gloves, wire loom, that sort of stuff. Denso is the OEM manufacturer for Toyota Parts as well as other vehicles. It used to be called Nippon Denso. These days, Toyota owns 25% of Denso. In 2022, they passed a law that only brake cleaner with 10% VOCs can be sold in NY, it used to be 45%. Without getting into the technical side of it, the VOCs, or Volatile Organic Compounds is the stuff that makes it work. And that went from 45% down to only 10%. If you still have that CRC can, check to see if it says the percentage. With that said, chances are very good this Denco stuff will do the job just fine for what you're cleaning. The 45% stuff is still available for sale in 39 other states. To get it, you'd have to buy it in another state, they won't even ship it to NY.
Heaven to Bettsie, God for bid the VOC is above 10%.
I figured they would outlaw it in New York!
Well, I guess the VOC is 10%, and that's why.
Do you know where to connect the ac charge. I hear it’s supposed to be to the low pressure but I can’t find a low. I only see high pressure well I’m guessing that because it has H on the small cap beside the fuse box. Is this the wrong location all together??
I do not know the car has been sold and gone for 3 years now.
I don’t understand why so many Toyota’s have so much chrome/silver on the interior trim, so annoying. Even the cup holder has super reflective chrome in my highlander
True.
Homesick..... i want one.
Very hard to find.
Wow!
I know.
Now listen boys and girls, cleaning your brakes is exceptionally important maintenance. Ranks right up there with greasing the muffler bearing, lubricating the Johnson Rod, changing the nut behind the wheel, and topping off the blinker fluid. You can change out the winter air for summer air in your tires on your own time. Cleaning and INSPECTING the brakes would have been a more correct title for this video. You inspected them, found the pads still had meat, and greased up what's supposed to be when putting it back. That's better than the last monkey that worked on it.
I think the big problem is the nut behind the wheel. They are always just so nutty.
@@xjoe81x That is true. I heard that on this car, the nut tends to get *rusty* on the _bottom_ end!
Oh, a Rim Job, eh? Hope the car enjoyed. Yes, rust forms on the center hub and rusts the wheel onto the hub. It's a good idea to reapply grease each time the wheel is taken off to help prevent further rust in the future.
Well, it did come with the car.
@@xjoe81x I thought of that very video yesterday!
😂 Amazing video! Thanks guys
Glad you enjoyed it!
Usually some would mix some bleach and water in one of those gallon bucket sprayers and just spray the house then pressure wash it after.
Thanks! Just found my old Sharp portable in storage. You helped me greatly! 6/12/2024 🤗
Glad I could help!
My mom had one of these. I remember the sound of the agitator doing its thing on many a school night.
Excellent.
When I saw the power washer on the brick wall, I knew it wasn't going to end well. They know they are going to topple over, so the plastic used for the cases is soft enough that it can take it. The blue one I have, has a pressure hose reel at the top, totally dumb design, I can't tell you how many times I toppled it over.
Yeah, it's like a tin can, just kick it around.
What a wonderful time it looks like you all had, that's great. The new additions look pretty cool!

Tha game room is painful to look at. Too many err eee dees! Everything is bright flashy colors, it needs to calm down a few notches. I guess the days of Space Invaders, Pac Man, Spy Hunter, and Pole Position are over. Man I miss that when the sounds in there were just from the games and you could recognize them, and the marquees on the games were lit usually using a fluorescent bulb. Those games were so good, they didn't need flashing lights to get your attention. NOTHING beats the arcade games you used to find in pizza joints around here back in the day. Go in, 2 slices and a Coke and a few rounds of whatever game was under 5 bucks easily. And it wasn't just that, it was the smell of all the pizza to go with the game that just added to the experience.
O yes, definitely the world as we know it with old school arcades and pinball are over. When those broke it took someone to fix it. When these new ones break replace the entire thing or just order an over priced circuit board. I don't even play them, the kids just run around pressing buttons thiking they are playing.
@@xjoe81x Ha ha ha, they're still young yet. Back in our day it was a quarter. You saw those prices!
Oh, how ya doin'? Right right, on my summer vacation!
I just saw this video. everything has been crazy since COVID. I would try Wayfair and stay on a budget . we bought a Brown faux leather PU Manuel love-seat with a console for under $600 dollars. my love seat looks and feels like real leather. just look at weight limits before buying anything. We didn't want to pay the crazy prices for the sofa or end up with junk. I am not sure what is better power or Manuel for a sofa or chair.
